Drive-By What Happened? What can I do to prevent this type virus?

Without making this a lengthy posts I will just say that until the anti-virus companies use a more mature method other than fingerprint identification  there is no complete protection from drive-by viruses/malware. You can use some browser restrictions that will prevent the malware from being shoved down your throat while you surf the internet.  While this method is effective you will find some web pages do not work right and unless you are really, really committed you will turn it off.

Researchers have recently seen these critters alter your hard drive so they can better survive an attack by hiding in a hidden partition.  This is even more sneaky than the "RootKit" which can just hide.

If you are hit turn your computer off until the virus infection is abated.  Besides stealing information, passwords and spewing spam to others it can really be taxing on your equipment.
